Tena koutou katoa. Nau mai, haere mai ki manuhiri o nga
hau e wha.
Greetings to you all, welcome to our visitors coming
from all directions (from where the four winds blow).
Potiki Adventures
is owned and run by Bianca
Ranson and Melissa
Crockett, we are both of Maori descent (Nga Puhi,
Ngati Kahu and Te Rarawa) and are passionate about enjoying
the breathtaking natural environment of Aotearoa (New
Zealand).
Potiki specialises in contemporary Maori tours in Auckland.
We offer small group day tours, as well as a wide range
of customised private tours for individuals and groups.
Our company began in February 2004, and came about
out of our desire to provide tours that really utilised
our beautiful environment and incorporated Maori culture
meaningfully. We want our clients to experience contemporary
Maori culture, to see that it is alive, relevant and
evolving. To learn how we incorporate traditional culture
and protocols into our lives as young Maori professionals
living in an urban environment.
We offer trips that initiate our clients into the beauty
and significance of Maori culture on the whenua (land)
where the links and connections are tangible. This element
gives Potiki Adventures trips a significant and unique
value-and makes them very memorable.
In 2006 we won an award at the Tourism Industry Association
of New Zealand national Tourism Awards.
We are proud of having built a reputation for providing
unique, innovative tours.
We operate under the kaupapa, or guiding principles,
of ‘Manaakitanga’ – hosting visitors
to the highest possible level, ‘He Tangata’
– commitment to uplifting our own people, and
‘Kaitiakitanga’ – looking after the
environment.
Potiki tours take you to our favourite local places.
You will gain an insider’s perspective of the
place. The tours have been created by us to reflect
a ‘slice of life’, and although we take
care to make them accessible and understood by people
with no local knowledge, they are not ‘manufactured
for tourists’. Our trips are designed for both
newcomers to Auckland or Aotearoa, and are also able
to provide a fresh perspective for people who already
live here.
Potiki - specialists in contemporary
Maori experiences, interactions and adventures.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
Noho ora mai,
Melissa and Bianca
